Wednesday, October 16, 2019 Cordeaux and Medoc
Explore Bordeaux with a local guide. Continue to La Cite du Vin for a discovery of wine culture and history. Travel the “Route des Chateaux” viewing the historic wine estates of the Medoc region. Complete the adventure a a winery, smell the grapes and taste the wine.
Thursday, October 17, 2019 Saint Emilion and the Dordogne
Choose to ride a tuk-tuk through the medieval village of Saint Emilion OR take a walking tour of the old town and the underground Monolithic Church. Then it’s on to Chateau Des Vigiers, our home for the next two evenings. Enjoy a fine dining experience in this 16th century estate.
Friday, October 18, 2019 Dordogne Valley
Visit a local market, stop in Eymet one of Southern Frances fortified towns and then on to Chateau Monbazillac, know for its dessert wines. The afternoon is free to wander the grounds, take in a round of golf or relax in the luxurious spa.
Saturday, October 19, 2019 Carcassonne
Unesco’s world heritage site. Out of a storybook, complete with drawbridges, towers and cobblestone streets. Explore Carcassonne this afternoon. Hotel de La Cite, one night.
Sunday, October 20, 2019 Provence
En route, marvel at the Saint-Benezet Bridge, and the Pont du Gard, a 1st century aqueduct. Take a walking tour of Avignon, the “City of Popes”. End with a visit to the Popes’ Palace. Hotel Le Vallon de Vakrygues, Saint-Remy-de Provence for three nights.
Monday, October 21, 2019 Gordes
France’s famed lavender fields. Visit the museum to learn the origin of this fragrant flower. Next, an adventure to hunt for the truffles, using trained dogs. Apres hunt, savor the unique experience of farm tastings throughout the countryside, among the landscapes that inspired Van Gogh, Picasso and Renoir.
Tuesday, October 22, 2019 Saint-Remy
A day at leisure, or an optional tour to the hilltop town of Les Baux-de-Provence. Take in the Carrieres-de-Lumieres, a multimedia show projected on the surrounding rock. Tonight is the farewell dinner to say au revoir to the magic of Southern France.
